Ohio Senator Teresa Fedor visited our school on May 21. She is currently on a biking trip to Columbus promoting her efforts to write a law concerning proper distance for cars to stay from cyclists. The BG Montessori Chess Club won 1st Place at the 2010 Ohio Elementary Chess Championships held last Saturday in Columbus. The event sanctioned by the United States Chess Federation attracted over 260 players from 82 elementary schools who competed in the state title event. Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, the Montessori School of Bowling Green, the Wood County District Public Library and the Wood, Soil and Water Conservation District are partnering for a Special Earth Day event. Each year, our fourth and sixth year students take the nationally standardized Metropolitan 8 test. Scores, as usual, were out of this world! Our students were tested in Reading, Math, Language, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, Research Skills and Thinking Skills. The Sentinel Tribune writes, "Montessori School of Bowling Green extended its state title win streak to four, while Bowling Green Middle School won its first state chess title ever at the 2009 Ohio Grade Level Chess Championships held Nov. 21 at Owens Community College.
